Lazy Cooking with Mackerel

Lazy Cooking with Mackerel

Yup, it's back. My little cooking corner known as Lazy Cooking with Hacaga has returned! Let me start off by saying that I'm not a very good cook. I can't cook for sh!t. You shouldn't expect anything fancy from me. On the other hand, I'm a pro at making simple dishes. I don't want to waste my time making something that'll take me forever. I also don't want to spend a lot of money on ingredients. Fast and easy, that's my motto. I will show you how to make delicious meals that anyone can make. Time for some lazy cooking!

Disclaimer/Warning: Don't take everything I say too seriously. You should all know better by now. Just enjoy the ride! Continue at your own risk. You have been warned!

Q: What's on the menu?

Mackerel.

Mmm, delicious mackerel.

What you will need:
  • A can of mackerel
  • Can opener
  • Fork

Q: That's it? Really?

Indeed it is. It's as simple as opening a can!

Q: Can I add anything?

I mean, you can if you really want to. I've seen people add mayonnaise and mustard to their mackerel. Personally, I prefer adding some relish if I have any around. You can also chop up some onions or tomatoes to add in some extra flavor. Honestly, you can add whatever condiment or veggies you want. That requires effort though. I just want to be lazy.

Putting in a little effort is okay sometimes, I GUESS.

Q: What brand of canned mackerel would you recommend?

There are so many brands out there. Bumble Bee and Chicken of the Sea seem to be the most popular choices. I personally enjoy King Oscar skinless and boneless mackerel in olive oil. I also quite like RugenFisch smoked mackerel fillets. These are just my preferences but you can choose whichever brand you desire. Go with your gut.

King Oscar mackerel is pretty good.

Q: Why mackerel?

It's nutritious because you get a big dose of Omega-3s and Vitamin D. Also, it's cheap! I may or may not have been inspired by the currently airing anime Hinamatsuri as well.

Prep Work: Opening your can of mackerel
  • Grab your can opener.
  • Use it to open the can.
  • If your can doesn't require a can opener, even better! Just pull the top off.

Q: Now what?

Nothing, you're basically done already!

Cook Work: None
  • No cooking involved.

Q: There's really no cooking?

Nope. You can cook the mackerel if you want but I wouldn't recommend it. You'd just be wasting time.

You're good to go, no need to cook!

Time to eat!
  • Grab a fork and dig in! A spoon works too.
  • If you don't like eating out of a can, you can always dump the mackerel on a plate or bowl.
  • Enjoy!

Q: We're done?

Yup! Canned mackerel is great because all you need to do is open the can and you're good to go.

Enjoy that mackerel. You deserve it.

Other things you can do with your canned mackerel
  • Eat it with crackers.
  • Make a sandwich with it.
  • Make mackerel salad.
  • Fry it.

There you have it folks! Enjoying mackerel is as easy as opening a can. Get it? Because all you have to do is open a can. Anyways, I hope you all enjoyed the return of Lazy Cooking with Hacaga!

This will be your reaction when you eat that can of mackerel. Probably.

Last time I did this I also answered questions from my readers. I suppose I will do that again this time around.

Q: Seriously, why mackerel!?

I'll be honest with you. It's 100% because I watched episode 2 of Hinamatsuri and it gave me the inspiration to write this blog post.

Q: Is Hinamatsuri a good show?

I like it so far. I enjoy the comedy and I have a lot of fun while watching it.

Q: Will you do more Lazy Cooking with Hacaga in the future?

Maybe. If people enjoy it, who am I to deny them more?

Q: What is the lewdest anime this season?

...why are you asking me? I think that's enough questions for now. Also, My Hero Academia is clearly the lewdest anime this season.
