Miss Kobayashi's Starving Child

Surprised to see a blog post on here? Honestly, I am too. Good news is I'm not dead! That's good...right? Anyways, I know I was gone for a while but now I'm back! Kinda. We'll see how long that actually lasts. I'll elaborate on my disappearance in another blog post in the near future. For now, let us just enjoy the time we're sharing together. CHERISH THESE MOMENTS. Who knows how long they'll last?

The 2017 Winter Anime Season is almost at an end. It seems that not a lot of people are too fond of this season. Not enough good shows they say. I, on the other hand, disagree. We have ACCA: 13-Territory Inspection Dept. which is a great political drama from Madhouse. KonoSuba returned with another season of shenanigans and classic Studio Deen derp faces. Speaking of returns, YowaPeda, Gintama, and Rakugo all came back this season which pleases me greatly. Nyanko Days is the epitome of adorable. When you take a moment to think about, this season is actually quite stacked. One show I'm particularly enjoying this season is Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid. There are many great things about it. I'm not going to name them all because I just want to focus on the most important aspect of the show and that is MOE DRAGON KANNA,THE MOST ADORABLE CREATURE THIS SEASON.

LOOK AT HOW ADORABLE SHE IS. ISN'T SHE JUST THE CUTEST THING EVER? I AM LITERALLY DYING OF DIABETES JUST BY GAZING UPON HER ADORABLENESS. KAWAII AS FFFFFFFFFF. HNGGGGGGGGGGGGGG.

Erhm, sorry about that. I lost myself for a bit there. Anyways, Kanna is pretty adorable, yeah? Getting to see her every week just puts a smile on my face and warms my heart. I should ONLY be smiling while watching this show. Sadly, that isn't the case. Why? Because adorable little Kanna is being STARVED every week. I kid you not. Everyone on this show is letting her starve to death. THIS ADORABLE CREATURE IS BEING STARVED TO DEATH. That is unacceptable. It disgusts me. Angry doesn't even begin to describe how I feel. She is surrounded by so many people and NOT A SINGLE DAMN ONE WANTS TO FEED HER. Seriously, the heck is wrong with them? It's mind-boggling.

You know what really grinds my gears though? The fact that no one cares. Kanna is a healthy young girl...I mean dragon. Dragon girl? Doesn't matter. She is young and healthy and has a hearty appetite. She wants to eat lots of food and that's perfectly understandable for a growing cutie pie like her. But does anyone ever notice when she's hungry? Nope. Does anyone even care? Not at all. No one gives a damn. POOR KANNA HAS TO VENTURE OUT INTO THE CRUEL WORLD AND FIND THINGS TO EAT SO SHE DOESN'T STARVE TO DEATH.

It literally breaks my heart when I have to see Kanna eating moths, grasshoppers, and other bugs just to survive. She's just a kid. This shouldn't be happening. The blame lies with those who are supposed to take care of her. Clearly, they're not doing a very good job at it. Let's start with Miss Kobayashi. Kanna is currently residing at her place. This technically means that Miss Kobayashi is her guardian. Worst guardian ever. The one person you'd actually think Kanna could count on lets her down the most. Miss Kobayashi is either too busy getting drunk after work or being a hardcore maid otaku. Kanna is just a bother to her. And what's worse is that when she does spare some time for Kanna...all she does is make her sad.

Miss Kobayashi...HOW DARE YOU MAKE THIS ADORABLE CREATURE SAD? YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF YOURSELF. THIS CHILD IS STARVING. FEED HER FOR GOODNESS' SAKE. Actually, did you know that Miss Kobayashi did feed Kanna? ONCE. She gave her pieces of chocolate...after DEMEANING HER AND TREATING HER LIKE A DOG.

MISS KOBAYASHI IS A MONSTER. KANNA ISN'T YOUR PET. STOP TREATING HER LIKE ONE. An insignificant human treating a majestic dragon this way is unfathomable. As hard as it is to believe, there is someone else who treats Kanna even worse. That would be her fellow dragon, Tohru. You'd think the fact that they're both dragons would mean they would get along. Nope. Tohru treats Kanna like absolute sh!t. For starters, Tohru abandoned Kanna to move in with Miss Kobayashi. ABANDONED. No notice or anything, just left Kanna all alone. I don't know about you, but that's messed up. Naturally, they reunite at Miss Kobayashi's place. That's great, right? Of course not. Kanna is given nothing but annoyed and pissed off expressions. Like, WHAT DID KANNA DO WRONG? NOTHING. SHE'S A KID AND YOU ABANDONED HER. WHO THE HELL DO YOU THINK YOU ARE?

To add insult to injury, Tohru is ALWAYS making food for Miss Kobayashi. Only for Miss Kobayashi. Kanna can only watch while they eat delicious meals in front of her and starves. Who honestly makes a child go through that on a daily basis? Tohru is a terrible person. Well, not exactly. Terrible dragon. Dragon girl? Whatever. To put it simply, Tohru is a straight up b!tch. Did I mention that Tohru tried to kill Kanna too? Yeah, that actually happened.

With all the crap she deals with, it should come to no surprise that Kanna cries, a lot. And why wouldn't she? She is treated absolutely dreadful. MY HEART WEEPS FOR HER. I DON'T WANT TO SEE HER SAD. ALL SHE WANTS IS FOOD. SHE'S FREAKING HUNGRY. FEED HER! IS THAT TOO MUCH TO ASK FOR? I THINK NOT. I fear one day Kanna will lose it and wipe out the entire human race and she will be totally justified in doing so. We measly humans do not deserve to be graced by her adorable presence. We are not worthy.

I still have a little bit of faith that someday Kanna will be fed properly. Maybe someone in this show won't be a complete asshole to her. I want to see Kanna happy. I want to see her smiling. She is the only ray of hope in this world of darkness. SHE DESERVES TO BE HAPPY. SOMEONE. ANYONE. PLEASE FEED THIS STARVING CHILD.
